Upgrade Path

Is KidsFocus Premium worth it?

Honest answer, from us, the people who built it: maybe not on day one. Here's when it is.

⏱️ 3 minutes👤 Parent🎯 Result: You know exactly if and when to upgrade

What Free gives you

Free is genuinely useful. Not a lite-version-with-annoying-limits. Not a countdown-to-upgrade trap. You get:

Most families run on Free for months. That's fine. That's how we've priced it on purpose.

When Premium is actually worth A$19.99/month

You have more than one child

Premium supports up to 3 child profiles, so each child can have their own tasks, routines, and progress tracking. For larger households, the Family plan supports unlimited children.

You want more than 2 routines

Homework routine. After-school wind-down. Weekend chores. Bedtime. If you're bumping up against the 2-routine limit, upgrade.

You want the deeper insights

Premium shows you time-of-day heat maps, task-level trends over 3+ months, and pattern detection ("your child struggles most on Wednesdays after PE"). It's the same data — Free shows you a week, Premium shows you a story.

You're using KidsFocus with a clinician

Premium unlocks the two-way clinician workspace — your therapist can assign specific tasks and add notes. Free is view-only for clinicians.

The three features Premium parents actually use

  1. Custom reward economies. Set your own star values per task. High-friction tasks (homework) can be worth 3 stars while easy ones are worth 1. Kids figure out the value quickly.
  2. Photo-based tasks. Take a photo of your child's neat room, or a completed worksheet. The photo becomes the "tick" — great for younger kids or non-readers.
  3. Voice reminders in your voice. Record yourself saying "hey buddy, time to brush your teeth" — the app plays it at the right moment. Way better than a robot voice, and it works when you're not in the room.

Try Premium free for 30 days

A payment method is required to start the trial, but your card won't be charged for 30 days. After the trial, Premium is A$19.99/month. Cancel anytime — your data and routines stay, and you can continue using the Free plan.

🎯 Our honest advice

Use Free for 2–3 weeks first. Get one solid routine running. If you hit a limit that annoys you, that's your signal to upgrade. Don't upgrade on day one "just in case" — you'll pay for features you haven't earned the need for yet.
